After a great night in Nashville, we were headed to a music hub of another variety: New Orleans. I had never been to the Big Easy, but I was excited to check out the local culture and especially the jazz.

Austin Roadtrip: Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry
The timing of the trip was largely centered on two constraints: when I needed to be in Austin to for my first day of work and when we needed to be in Nashville to see the Grand Ole Opry live.
Austin Roadtrip: Knoxville Mercedes Plant
After we left Gatlinburg, we were headed to Nashville. Along the way we passed through Knoxville and stumbled upon this Mercedes plant. There were signs about a museum, so we decided to make a rest stop and see what there was to see.

Our destination for the first night was barely over the Tennessee border, in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I’d never been there before, but it seemed like a good place to stop and incorporate some nature into our trip.
