About 3 months ago I went to a class at my local REI about planning a budget trip to Switzerland. At the time it was a fun, just-in-case kind of thing, but little did I know I’d be visiting Switzerland in short order.
The next stop on my trip to France was Chamonix, a mountain town in the French Alps known best for its skiing. In the summer, Chamonix has a lot of great hiking, climbing, and cycling.
I’m catching up on posts I’ve been neglecting, including several about my trip to France in May.
First stop: Grenoble.
I’m back in the Maryland and Virginia area for the summer after spending some time in Pensacola. Brian is now here for a bit too while he’s in between phases so we’ve been having a grand old time. Our idea of a good time doesn’t usually involve waging war, but this was an exception because tomorrow is the 200th anniversary of the Battle of St. Leonard Creek, the largest naval battle in Maryland history.
Yesterday we were back at Naval Air Station Pensacola to watch the Blue Angels practice.
As I mentioned before, they’re the Navy’s flight demonstration squadron. The team is based in Pensacola where they practice their show twice a week when they’re not performing in air shows elsewhere.
